George Evelyn tells us about the Ibiza vibe in Dubai

Electronic music composer George Evelyn -- better known as Nightmares on Wax -- got his start in a breakdance crew, but don’t expect any moves at his Sundance show on Friday. “If u want to see a older guy breakdance? Yeah! For me them days are over, although I may mess about a bit. It’s not something to joke about if your not 100 per cent fit,” he says. These days, it’s more about sunshine.
“I have spent my career trying to create sunshine in my music, so I thought this is the next the level,” he says of Wax Da Beach, his beach party brand.
“Vibe and feeling is everything to me. Without these elements there is nothing really. We can all talk about a show, but it really is all about the feeling. In a live show you have more space to be spontaneous. Making music in the studio is an adventure. It’s always waiting to see what happens.”
He plays the sunset session on Friday, taking the decks at 5.30pm - something he’s known for in Ibiza, describing his sets there as, “the best combination you can imagine: music combined with Djing, singers free-styling while the sun is setting. I wanted to bring something a little different to the Ibiza sunset sessions.” But in Dubai, it’s a N.O.W show, “but I would say there are traits of Wax Da Beach in there too. Being the originator of Wax Da Beach it means it’s always there.”
