Lando Calrissian

Known as one the greatest heroes of the Rebel Alliance, Lando Calrissian joined a cause that changed completely under his contribution and influence.
He was a professional gambler, smuggler and long-time friend of Han Solo, who he betrayed in order to save the colony of the planet Bespin (because he was its Baron Administrator) from the Galactic Empire.
This place was known as Cloud City, a floating city that had a form of silver disc and in its upper part were independent buildings.
After realising that Darth Vader had manipulated the pact between them, Lando Calrissian understood that a deal with the Empire would never be fair or honest, so, full of guilty feelings, decided to rescue Princess Leia and Chewbacca from the hands of the Imperial forces in Bespin.
Lando Calrissian led a bold rescue operation into Jabba the Hutt's palace in Tatooine, finally freeing Han Solo.
During the Battle of Endor, Lando Calrissian lead the Millenium Falcon with Nien Numb as co-pilot. They destroyed the second Death Star, ending any opposition from Imperial forces.
The expanded universe clarifies Calrissian's origins a little. He was originally a Socorran native, which gave him a hint of a Corellian accent thanks to the Corellian origin of that planet's settlers.
Four years before the Battle of Yavin, Calrissian, a professional gambler, won a battered YT-1300 freighter called the Millennium Falcon in a high-stakes game of Sabacc. As he had no piloting experience, Lando gave the ship to Han Solo. Thanks to its capacity to reach lightspeeds, the Millennium Falcon was able to avoid the harassment of Imperial troops.
The expanded universe also tells how after the formation of the Galactic Alliance, Lando Calrissian continued to serve against the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, sometimes partnered with the Smugglers' Alliance and frequently accompanied by his YVH 1 droids.
