Twenty-seven movies are vying for recognition in Abu Dhabi's eighth annual Emirates Film Competition.
Competition director Abdulla Bastaki told tabloid! that "Emirati filmmakers have enhanced the quality of their films and upgraded their tools... Their script-writing and screening is getting better," he said.
The event which was set up as part of the Middle East International Film Festival's (MEIFF) activities, is dedicated solely to Emirati film makers.
This year the competition includes for the first time two local feature films Henna and Al Mureed.
Today in the Shangri-La Hotel, Abu Dhabi, film makers can meet their critics for a spot of advice on how to improve the quality of their films. The event takes place from 12pm to 3pm.
See all the latest Emirati films at the Marina Mall every day at 1.30pm until October 18.
