Turkish Airlines (THY) announced on Sunday that the company will file a suit against Warner Bros, the producer of the American film I am Legend, due to the mention of THY in the film without permission of the airline. This was reported in the newspaper Today's Zaman.

The movie, which was released in Turkey on January 25, includes a scene where lead actor Will Smith listens to a news report saying, "A Turkish Airlines flight went off course due to poor weather conditions."

In addition to not getting permission from THY to use its name, the newspaper said, airline officials also noted that the scene in question may damage the company's image.

Senior officials from THY noted that such scenes do not usually include the name of a specific company so as to avoid paying for use of the name.
