Tonight is a big night for Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as she makes her appearance on the Cannes red carpet. To ensure that all goes smooth on the fashion front, the new mum has reportedly enlisted the help of celebrated Indian designer-duo Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla.
"She is wearing our clothes for her entries Cannes visit," said Sandeep Khosla in an exclusive interview with tabloid!.
According to the designer, the face of cosmetic giant L'Oreal Paris will either be dressed in a chikankari anarkali, a heavily embroidered tunic with gold gota (embellishment) work -- or an off-white sari studded with a zardozi border tonight.
"We have gone all out for her. She's modern day royalty and she will be wearing a classic Abu Sandeep design. It's got our signature motifs all over it," said Khosla.
In their 25-year-reign in the Indian haute couture business, the duo has dressed most of Bollywood, including the influential Bachchan clan.
"She just came to us and it was magic after that. After all, Abu Sandeep has been here for 25 years and that's how it works then," said Khosla.
The former Miss World, who has come under fire for not losing her pregnancy weight fast enough, is likely to be scrutinised for her fashion choice.
Though she's a regular fixture on the Cannes red carpet, she has often lost out in the style stakes, and in particular, her association with friend and designer Neeta Lulla a decade ago cost her dearly. But the last couple of years have been different. The Bachchan bahu (wife) cleaned up good by opting for Elie Saab and Armani Prive designs. Tonight, she may turn East again.
