The Indo-Canadian actress who made her transition to Bollywood films with Jism 2 was one of the show-stoppers at the recent Marigold Watches & Rohit Verma fashion showcase Ignite held in Mumbai.
“I am so honoured to be doing my first ramp show with Rohit … I can’t wait for the world to see it,” said Leone, who poured herself into a heavily embellished yellow lehenga. She said she felt like a princess in the traditional Indian gear. Her style mantra?
“I always believe you should wear clothes that fit your body. Sometimes we wear clothing that might be too big or too small. Sexuality is not defined on how little you wear but it’s how you carry yourself in the clothes you are wearing,” said Leone.
The glittering evening also saw former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen and actor Sonu Sood in lavish creations. Sen dubbed her return to the catwalk as “electrifying”.
“It feels like home. Walking the ramp is always a special experience. Even after all these years, the energy is simply electrifying,” said Sen, who was crowned Miss Universe in 1994. For those asking, she didn’t go on an impossible crash diet.
“Crash dieting should not be anyone’s style mantra, ever. Style is a state of mind. And a healthy body is the key to it,” said Sen by email. Verma, whose creations were inspired by marigold flowers, couldn’t stop raving about the stars who surrounded him.
“They are confident, beautiful and graceful,” he said ahead of his show.
