Simon Fuller on with Robert Pattinson

American Idol host strikes deal with star of Twilight films

Simon Fuller, the creator of the American Idol television show, is making his first move into Hollywood after striking a deal with Robert Pattinson, star of the Twilight films.

Fuller will executive produce Bel Ami, which will also star Nicole Kidman.

"I have been planning to get more active in the film industry for quite some time and have patiently waited for the right moment," he said. "I am now establishing a new film company and have a number of exciting projects in development."

He could not have picked a more in-demand star for his first film than Pattinson. The first film in the Twilight series was one the biggest hits of 2008. New Moon, the sequel, is released this month.
