Dubai: Canadian pop star Justin Bieber had released pictures together with boxing champ Manny Pacquiao after they inadvertently bumped into each other at a Los Angeles shopping complex frequented by the well-heeled.
The accidental meet-up, which took place in California’s The Grove on April 16, happened as Manny was shopping with his entourage, according to Philippine Entertainment Portal (Pep), a popular showbiz site.
TMZ Sports reported that Pacquiao spent US$20,000 worth of T-shirts and trousers for his 50-person entourage earlier at Nordstroms.
Pacman also bought Ferragamo shoes for himself.
After shopping at Nordstroms, the team went to the Apple store where Pacman bumped into Bieber, a known friend and supporter of boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Biebs created a storm in 2012 when he uploaded pictures on his Instagram account in which he mocked Pacman, according to Hollywood Reporter.
Bieber first put up a picture taken in 2009 when Mayweather defeated Juan Manuel Marquez, with an oblique reference to Pacquiao: "Look what Mayweather did to Marquez.. #moneyteam #nocompetition", according to Pep.
Then Bieber posted several photos mocking the nine-time Filipino champion after Marquez knocked out Pacquiao in their 2012 Las Vegas fight.
One altered photo shows Michael Jackson performing an “anti-gravity lean” dance over the fallen boxer, with the words "Manny Are You Okay?" above him. The other image showed Simba, from the Disney film The Lion King, nudging him like he had his dead father.
It seems, however, that at their LA encounter, the two starts have forgotten about the incident and gamely posed together.
Meanwhile, at a charity auction, Manny Pacquiao Foundation, raised money from Typhoon Haiyan victims at a $1,000-a-plate dinner at Victorino Noval in Beverly Hills on April 15.
An anonymous buyer bought Pacman’s boxing trunks he used against Timothy Bradley Jr for US$40,000 during their April 12 rematch at MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas, according to Pep.
