Funky, fresh and fabulous, Jessie J strutted on stage in a bright purple pantsuit and gold belt at Meydan and instantly the crowd warmed up to her.

Her sense of humour made it feel like she was singing to a couple of mates. At one point she said "I'm going to have a drink of water... it's not going to be awkward" then she put her cordless microphone between her legs, opened her bottle, took a huge gulp, put the lid back on, and took her mic before saying "Right, where were we?"

She even asked for the lights to be brought up on the audience so she could see all the people she was singing to. And when the lighting guy didn't follow her instructions, she repeated it again until she could see her crowd.

She's only recently hit radio playlists in the UAE but she sang some of her lesser known songs such as Love and Nobody's Perfect and they were all just as good as Price Tag. She owned the stage and looked completely comfortable - singing and dancing with a real joie de vivre.

A lovely refreshing surprise and by the end of the gig, when all were cheering, she said: "I believe this song is on the radio in the UAE right now..." then went on to sing Price Tag.
