What happens when you fall in love with a girl who suffers from amnesia and cannot remember you the next day?
Gautham, an MBA graduate who manages his father’s ayurvedic pharmaceutical company is perplexed when he discovers that Nithya, the girl he is head over heels in love with, suffers from short-term memory loss.
Directed by newcomer Anwar Sadik, Ormayundo Ee Mukham, is a romantic story featuring Vineeth Srinivasan and Namitha Pramod in the lead.
Pramod plays Nithya, a sand-animation artist, who following an accident can only recall recent events.
Sadik, who earlier assisted Malayalam director V.K. Prakash, said: “Her memory can be compared to the images she prepares on sand that last only for a short while and vanish soon after.”
“While the basic thread of the story is inspired by other international films on amnesia, I have written the story to suit the Malayali audience.”
Playing key roles are veteran actress Lakshmi, as Gautham’s grandmother and Rohini as his mother.
Gautham’s main agenda is to get his company back on track but somehow things don’t really work out.
“This adds to his mother’s fears that her son will turn out irresponsible just like her husband who committed suicide, owing to huge debts,” said Sadik.
“Lakshmi chechi [elder sister] brings humour to this story as a modern grandma who is familiar with Facebook and WhatsApp,” added Sadik.
“She often gives him ideas to take his love forward.”
Aju Verghese plays Gautham’s employee, Apoorva.
Shot in Kochi and Pondicherry, Ormayundo Ee Mukham is produced by Jaison Elamgulam. Shaan Rahman has composed the music. Jithu Damodar is the cinematographer.
Sadik said it is a film you can watch with the entire family.
Ormayundo Ee Mukham releases in the UAE on December 25.
