So the rumours were true. Ed Sheeran is indeed coming to the UAE next year. On March 5, to be exact, for a one-night-only performance at the Dubai Media City Amphitheatre.
The 23-year-old British singer, who broke out in 2011 with his debut album +, is heading to our neck of the woods as part of the world tour to promote his second album x (pronounced ‘Multiply’). The album was released on June 23 this year, charting at number one in both the UK and the US.
In concert, the singer-songwriter is known for creating a haunting, layered sound courtesy of his loop pedal. He performs a mixture of moving acoustic ballads (Give Me Love, The A Team), fast-paced, defiant anthems (You Need Me, I Don’t Need You), and radio-friendly pop tunes (Sing).
Sheeran, currently on a headlining tour to promote his second record, is also known for his collaborations with Pharrell Williams and One Direction.
Tickets to his Dubai concert, with prices starting at Dh350, go on sale on November 20. The website, edsheerandubai.com, will go live soon.
