If you thought the old chat-up line, “how do you like your eggs in the morning” doesn’t work anymore, you obviously haven’t tried it on Arjun Kapoor. tabloid! got to chat up the Gunday actor — platonically, of course — at the opening of Porte Des Indes, a new Indian restaurant at The Address Dubai Mall, on Saturday night, and he shared his idea of the meal that would win his heart.
While his dream restaurant meal is a steak — “I love my beef. I love steak. I love to travel and try beef, whether its wagyu beef or a t-bone steak, I experiment a lot,” he says — don’t bother rustling that up if you want to impress him.
“Wake me up with breakfast,” Kapoor says. “Steak, you can’t get it right at home very easily. What you can get right at home is a good breakfast. Baked beans, sausages, eggs, toast, muffins, orange juice...”
After a good night, obviously, we venture. “I would assume,” he answers with a wink.
The actor who endeared himself to audiences in Ishaqzaade is four weeks away from his biggest release yet, Gunday, with Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh, a film he himself hasn’t yet seen. “Honestly, it doesn’t quite sink in until the film releases. But I am very happy with the response of the people. I’m a young actor in my third film, to see this kind of response, just to the trailers... I’m really grateful but I’m very numb at this point.”
2014 is starting to look like a litmus test for the actor’s popularity, with 2 States, an adaptation of a Chetan Bhagat book in April, and Finding Fanny, a Goan road trip in July. “It’s a busy year, and in terms of knowing where I stand as an actor, I’ll definitely be able to tell at the end of 2014.”
