Filipino-Australian actress, model, television host, singer and VJ Anne Curtis joined her co-stars at Showtime for a special Dubai edition over the weekend of the popular noontime entertainment show. Showtime airs on ABS-CBN in the Philippines and worldwide through The Filipino Channel (TFC).
Before their Friday night show, Curtis got down with tabloid! to talk about her soaring career. With her top-selling debut album ANNE-Bisyosa, two blockbuster movies, being a sought-after fashion icon and show host and having numerous product endorsements, Curtis may have had it all in 2011.
On a high note
"I'm so happy and quite surprised that people accept me also as a singer aside from being an actress. From the start people knew that I was just doing it for fun but they accepted it positively. We didn't expect that more people will buy my album. VIVA records even initially produced just a few copies of my album but in the end they needed to produce more," said Curtis.
With the success of her debut album, Curtis' first major solo concert is now in the works.

Following her success in 2011 at ABS-CBN, Curtis shot down rumours that she will be jumping ship as she inked a two-year contract with the Kapamilya network.
"For 2012, there are already plans for a new movie and a television drama. I can't divulge the details yet but for sure it's something people will look forward to," says Curtis.
Asked who she wants her leading man to be, Curtis said she wants to work with Filipino comedian Vhong Navarro, one of her co-hosts at Showtime. "I'd love to do a movie with Vhong. I haven't worked with him in a movie or even in a television series. Hopefully, we can do a movie together next year if given a chance."
Perfect act
Curtis has displayed her acting versatility having starred in both big screen and television hits. Her first movie this year was the rom-com Who's That Girl? She also starred in the remake of Green Rose aired on ABS-CBN.
"I love playing around with different roles, whether its comedy, drama — everything!" she says. "With my 14 years in showbusiness I've done almost all roles that I wanted to do. So now I'm just enjoying whatever role is given to me."
Reel and real
Curtis' stellar performance as a mistress in the blockbuster movie No Other Woman paved the way for her to claim the box office queen title this year. No Other Woman also starred Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes. The movie is the second highest grossing Filipino film of all time with total revenues of over Dh23 million.
In real life, Curtis says she's very happy with her relationship with Filipino-French fashion model Erwan Heussaff. Unlike her role in No Other Woman, Curtis said she's never cheated.
However, being in the limelight she concedes that she can never avoid controversies regarding her relationships. She points out though that her boyfriend understands her situation. "It really works as long as you know how to balance your personal life and your life in showbusiness. It's really up to the person, if you really want the relationship to work there is always a way to do it," said Curtis.
Fashion icon
Curtis is a self-confessed fashionista and one of the most admired fashion icons in the Philippines. "I'm really a fashionista, the total package — from shoes, bags, accessories, clothes, everything!" Curtis said. "But I try not to splurge too much. Perhaps the most expensive fashion accessory I've bought is my Chanel clutch," she added.
With all the success that Curtis has attained in her 14 years in showbusiness, she says that her passion and love in the industry keeps her going.
"I really have kept my passion burning for the industry. Along the way I discovered and learned so many things. I'm so happy with what is happening in my career and I really love what I'm doing."
