Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan ushered in her 36th birthday with family members and close friends in Mumbai on Sunday.

The actress, who has completed shooting for Mani Ratnam's bilingual film Raavana with hubby Abhishek, had taken a break for a few days before starting on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzarish with Hrithik Roshan on Monday.

The former Miss World's other projects — Action Replay with Akshay Kumar and Robot with Rajnikant — are almost complete with a song and few scenes remaining.

"We have also just brought in Aishwarya's birthday and wished her love and happiness and a long prosperous life. It was just the family," the actress' father-in-law, mega star Amitabh Bachchan, wrote on his blog.

Meanwhile, according to online reports, the usually affable Katrina Kaif made her displeasure apparent by flatly refusing to wish happy birthday to Salman Khan's former girlfriend — on national television.

Kaif was doing interviews with Ranbir Kapoor for their film Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

At one stage a reporter asked Kapoor to give a sound byte wishing Rai Bachchan happy birthday. He gladly obliged. When Kaif, Khan's current girlfriend, was asked, she said she doesn't need to wish Khan's ex, as Ranbir had already done so.

As soon as the interview ended, Kaif, who had kept a tight check on her anger, stormed out of the studio.
