Actor Arjun Rampal says that most award shows aren’t what they used to be, but the National Film Awards are still close to his heart.
“There are so many award shows happening these days that they have lost [their] charm,” he said.
The 43-year-old actor won his first National Award for his role as a musician in 2008 drama Rock On!!.
He reprises the role of Joe in the sequel to the popular film in Rock On!! 2.
About the pressure to win an award again Rampal said: “I know there will be expectation but I am not under pressure.”
The musical drama, directed by Shujaat Saudagar, is scheduled to release in India on November 11.
“There were offers to play the role of a musician but I did not want to do it. I did not want to do [the musician role] because I had done it [with Rock On!!] beyond my expectations. I had surpassed the expectations. There was always talk about Rock On!! 2, so I wanted to preserve it,” he said.
