Cairo: The Arab Youth Council for Integrated Development on Wednesday praised the UAE for being an ideal model for women empowerment.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mushira Abu Ghali, Chairwoman and founder of the council, said the designation of August 28 as Emirati Women’s Day reflects the UAE’s keen interest in celebrating the significant role being played by women.

Emirati women, she noted, stand out in the Gulf region in that they managed to change the stereotypical image of Gulf women, thanks to the support being extended by the political leadership and Her Highness Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairperson of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

Emirati women proved that they are capable of assuming leading positions alongside men, Abu Ghali added.
