Sharjah: The UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) has announced that it will receive applications for participation in the sixth edition of the Etisalat Award for Arabic Children’s Literature until the end of August.

Winners will be selected from submitted works and announced during the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), set to take place from November 5-15.

The Dh1 million Etisalat Award aims to support and develop the children’s book industry in the Arab world by recognising books which address topics that enrich children’s literature and encourage publishers, authors and illustrators to produce creative children’s books in the Arabic language.

Entry is open to all Arab and international publishing houses that produce Arabic-language books. Participants must meet 17 terms and conditions to be eligible for the Award. Some include that the book be written in Arabic and published within the past three years. Books must not be a local, regional or international award-winner, and should not include translated or quoted works.
