Dubai: You might want to consider postponing your plans to go swimming this weekend as unstable weather could cause rough to very rough seas and bring different intensities of rain for the next 48 hours.

Another low pressure affecting the country will cause weather to be unstable this weekend, even extending until Monday, a weather alert from the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said. The amount of clouds will increase over most of the country that could bring showers over scattered areas.

Abu Dhabi, Dubai and other coastal areas are forecast to have heavy showers on Friday based on the NCMS website and the same goes with internal areas. Motorists are urged to drive with caution as roads may be slippery and visibility could deteriorate. Moderate to fresh winds in general could also cause hazy conditions due to windblown dust and sand.

Residents are advised against heading out to sea as the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea will be rough to very rough, especially with cloud activity. Onshore waves are expected to reach 4ft to 6ft, and may reach up to 7ft, in the Arabian Gulf while offshore waves can reach a maximum of 12ft.

In Oman Sea, onshore waves may reach 3ft to 5ft, while offshore it could be between 6ft to 8ft, reaching 10ft at times.

Temperatures are set to drop across the country, with Dubai getting average temperatures of 19C to 25C, compared to 21C to 29C on Thursday. Similarly, Abu Dhabi’s temperatures may drop to a range of 18C to 26C from 19C to 30C on Thursday.
