Al Hamili heads UAE delegation to the Ministerial Conference of OAPEC

Abu Dhabi: Mohammad Bin Dhaen Al Hamili, UAE Minister of Energy, will be heading the UAE delegation to the Ministerial Conference of the Organisation of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC), which will be held in Cairo on December 5, 2009.

The executive office of the organisation will hold a meeting in Cairo on December 2 to December 3, 2009, to prepare for the ministerial meeting.

During the meetings of the bureau, the UAE will be represented by Nasser Mohammad Al Sharhan, Director General of the Ministry of Energy.

The agenda of the ministerial Council includes the approval of both general and judicial authority budgets of the organisation for year 2010, and cooperation with regional and international organisations in the field of environment and climate change.

The council will review the progress of work on the database, the achievements of the organisation in this area, seminars and conferences held by the organisation, including the Fifth International Conference and Exhibition for Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industry in Egypt, the Conference for Investments in Oil and Gas and Petrochemicals in Bahrain in light of the global financial crisis, in addition to the Annual Coordination Meeting of OAPEC.

The council will be briefed about the technical studies prepared by the organisation, including the study on the distribution of total revenues of oil barrel, the share of member countries and the study on the natural gas market development in the European Union, developments in the oil and gas prices and their impact on the global economy.

It will also be briefed on the specialised technical studies on oil refining industry in the Arab world and internationally.

The ministerial council will also review steps taken for preparation of the Ninth Arab Energy Conference, which will be held next year in Qatar and the situation of the Arab Petroleum Training Institute (APTI) in Baghdad.

During the meeting, winners of the OAPEC scientific award 2008, under the theme of "Capturing and Storing Carbon Dioxide," will be honoured.
