Ajman: An explosion at the cooling unit of an aluminium factory in Al Jurf area of Ajman on Thursday morning left two workers seriously injured.
Doctors had to amputate a leg of one of the injured workers while the second worker suffered burns to various parts of his body.
Lieutenant Colonel Ali Jaber Ahmad Al Shamsi, Director of Al Hamedyah police station, said that police eceived a call at around 10.30am about an explosion at the factory.
Workers were evacuated from the premises as a safety measure and firefighters brought the fire under control in a short time.
The injured workers were transferred to Shaikh Khalifa Hospital for treatment.
Police are carrying out investigations to determine the cause of the blast.
