The breakup song from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is sending out a message that ending a relationship isn’t always a bad thing.

“The breakup song is all about women’s empowerment. Breaking up should be as quick and easy as falling in love,” director Karan Johar said.

The song features stars Anushka Sharma and Ranbir Kapoor celebrating their split, and it’s is all about how moving on can be easy.

With Pritam’s music, the quirky dance track is sung by Arijit Singh, Badshah, Jonita Gandhi and Nakash Aziz.

Johar has not yet commented on the controversy over the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which features Pakistani actor Fawad Khan.

The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) have said they will not allow Ae Dil Hai Mushkil to release in single screen theatres across Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat. The move comes in response to a terrorist attack in Uri that killed 19 India soldiers.

Directed and produced by Johan under his home banner Dharma Productions, the movie about unrequited love, also stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The film is scheduled to release in the UAE on October 27.
