Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Executive Council on Thursday approved a decree establishing the Abu Dhabi Government Media Office.

The media office shall have the legal personality, necessary legal capacity and financial and administrative independence in all its affairs.

The Executive Council also approved a decree appointing Mariam Eid Al Muhairi as the director-general of the office.

The media office shall have various functions including coordinating with relevant government agencies, developing and implementing media policies and plans for local government, providing the media with accurate news and information related to Abu Dhabi and the government, as well as preparing and organising relevant conferences and events, and communicating with all segments of society.

The setting up of the office comes within the framework of Abu Dhabi’s efforts to enhance its status on the local, regional and international levels and keep pace with its achievements on various levels.
