Mumbai-based astrologer Ajai Bhambi reads the stars to predict what's in store for Bollywood's top actresses in 2008.

Aishwarya Rai

Born: November 1, 1973
Characteristics: A powerful personality, single minded, focused, with great adaptability, Aishwarya is an excellent learner and improves with time. But she is also self-conscious and vulnerable. Marriage has benefited her.
Year ahead: Compared to last year when she was in the spotlight due to personal reasons, this year she will be in the news for her professional achievements. She will receive critical acclaim in Jodhaa Akbar, but her subsequent releases, including the foreign projects, will ensure her professional success.

Sushmita See

Born: November 19, 1975
Characteristics: Sushmita is strong willed, determined and focused but with a short attention span. She is a contrasting combination of strength and extreme vulnerability. While people may exploit her emotional being, she takes these pitfalls in her stride and accepts her destiny.
Year ahead: The status quo will be maintained professionally but her efforts in 2008 will yield great results in her career in 2009. She will become involved in NGOs and social work. But on a personal level, we do not see her settling down in 2008.

Preity Zinta

Born: January 31, 1975
Characteristics: Dimples are considered lucky, and Preity has certainly proved that. She is a true mix of the traditional and modern, and this striking combination has contributed to her success. But her planetary configurations contribute to her sporadic negative publicity with the media.
Year ahead: She will adopt a different approach and succeed in Bollywood where her experimental roles will lead to her success in the latter part of 2008. Good news for her admirers — her personal life will not culminate in marriage this year.

Kareena Kapoor

Born: September 21, 1980
Characteristics: She is ambitious, hardworking and determined — a true offspring of the Kapoors. Her emotional side motivates her to give her all to her loved ones. And her magnanimity is an extremely strong facet of her persona which makes her larger than life.
Year ahead: Kareena will achieve good success in 2008 but her personal life will not mirror her professional highs. However, she will take these turbulent times in her stride and work towards keeping the Kapoor flag afloat.

Priyanka Chopra

Born: July 18, 1982
Characteristics: Priyanka's incredible speed towards achieving super success in Bollywood is again due to the planet Venus. She is bold and beautiful, and her arrival heralded a new era of heroines in Bollywood. Before she came on the scene, heroines were beautiful and vulnerable. Beautiful she may be, but vulnerable? Certainly not.
Year ahead: 2008 will see great success for Priyanka. Last year, she did not receive any great commercial acclaim, but that will change tthis year leading her right to the top.
By the end of 2008, she will be knocking on the doors of Hollywood.

Rani Mukherjee

Born: March 12, 1978
Characteristics: Charismatic and talented, she has stormed Bollywood with awesome performances in Black and the like. She has overcome obstacles such as being perceived to have a poor voice to fight to the very pinnacle of Bollywood. She is magnanimous, focused, excellent at grasping power, and kind to all.
Year ahead: Her stars will shine brightly from March and all her releases will do extremely well, capturing everybody's attention with her performances.
Personal life: While this year could be the one for Rani to find Mr Right, if she does, she will marry later and not in 2008

Katrina Kaif

Born: July 16, 1984
Characteristics: She is extremely ambitious and willing to go to great lengths to fulfil her professional aspirations. In the pursuit of her career dreams, she is capable of accepting turmoil in her personal life.
Year ahead: Katrina's career will be firmly established this year and she will enjoy the biggest gains among her peers. Luck is on her side and she can do no wrong in 2008. Sadly, we do not see any fulfilment in her personal life this year.

Deepika Padukone

Born: September 5, 1986
Characteristics: She is truly destiny's child, hard working, strong willed and extremely ambitious while at the same time putting a fulfilling personal life high up on her priority list.
Year ahead: This year will propel her from the ranks of the best debutante to an established player in Bollywood. While her smile ruled in 2007, the intensity of her eyes and acting ability will rule in 2008. In short, she is here to stay. Her personal life will also dominate the headlines this year.

Vidya Balan

Born: January 1, 1978
Characteristics: Charming, attractive, childlike, Vidya can turn any head with her sweet and innocent smile. Venus, her ruling planet, also rules the celluloid world. And whenever this kind of synchronisation takes place, excellent results follow.
Year ahead: Vidya will be seen in a sensual mode this year, which will be a pleasant surprise for many including some envious co-stars. She will carve out a new niche for herself and is set for a wonderful year in all aspects.
