All the performances were well choreographed and a lot of effort had gone into the sets, costumes and fireworks.

The backup dancers were brilliant, but it was nice to see that the stars managed to match them step for step, especially Hrithik.

Some stage highlights:

Fardeen Khan performed to a number from Kurbani, Feroz Khan's remake of his 1970's hit Qurbani.

Dia Mirza and Akhshay Kapoor performed to a song from their new film Alag, premiered at the IIFA Weekend.

Upen Patel showed off his dancing skills and his muscles to the beats of Aashiqi Main Teri from 36 Chinatown.

Abhishek Bachchan came on stage to introduce the performance by Neha Uberoi and Sikandar Kher (son of Anupam and Kirron Kher), who will make their debut in a film by Sanjay Dutt and Sanjay Gupta's White Feather Films.

Himesh Reshammiya performed a medley of his hits.

Preity Zinta danced to a medley of songs such as Laila O Laila, Pyaar Do and Mehboob Mere in a tribute to the Arabian influence on Hindi film
music.

Saif Ali Khan began his tribute to Rishi Kapoor by strumming the signature tune of Karz on his guitar. Dressed in sparkly white, he did a great job of dancing like Kapoor at his disco best.

Akshay Kumar rode in on a camel, supposedly puffing on a sheesha. Katrina Kaif joined him in a medley of songs from their film Humko Deewana Kar Gaye.

Salman Khan regaled the audience with a medley of his recent hits and yes, he did take off his jacket and even did a naughty bit with a towel. Even the backing dancers were in shorts for this one.

Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Ayesha Kapoor were part of an evocative performance that highlighted special moments from Black.

The best stage performance by far was by Hrithik Roshan, who danced to tunes from Kaho Naa Pyar Hai, Lakshya and Koi Mil Gaya.
