Infoline Knowledge Academy (IKA) is embarking on redefining corporate learning in Oman by staging a popular Indian theatre production.
The play, Chanakyashastra, will be performed at the Muscat InterContinental Hotel's Palm Garden lawns on March 29.
"IKA is a concept initiated by Infoline to actively contribute towards expanding the knowledge base in Oman," said its vice president Sameer Gupta.
"Chanakyashastra is a fine management play that highlights the leadership practises of Chanakya, the greatest known kingmaker, thinker and strategist in the history of India. It is a part of the package that includes a leadership programme with theatre games and films all of which expand on the teachings of Chanakya and their applicability in the corporate world," Gupta said.
In the leadership development programme, the nine gems will be taught and debated upon, as tools to gain power in business practices, he explained. "
Chanakya explained economics centuries before Adam Smith and Amartya Sen," Gupta claimed.
The top Infoline executive reckons that an increasing number of professionals are discovering the power and applicability of storytelling for business management. "Storytelling ignites action in knowledge organisations," he enthused.
The play is written and directed by Sanjay Srinivas, an MBA from ICFAI, Bangalore, who has been a corporate trainer for several years and has been able to combine theatre and corporate training with great success.
Apart from highlighting the leadership practices of Chanakya, the play showcases the nine powerful gems (navratnas) used by Chanakya in creating a leader like Chandragupta Maurya, one of the greatest kings of India.
The play is given a contemporary twist with the subject being a corporate coup. Sanjay has woven Chanakya's philosophy and wisdom into the story in such a way that one can imbibe it without the feeling of being lectured. The lead role of "The Master Strategist" will be played by Rajendra Gupta.
The show will be followed by a workshop.
