Gaming enthusiasts now have the chance to put their skills to the test for more than just simple entertainment at the Magic Planet World Gaming Championships.
Dextrous fingers and thumbs are working furiously in the build up to the Magic Planet World Gaming Championships as semifinals are held at the Mall of the Emirates.
Part of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) 2008, finals will be held tomorrow.
The competition require contestants to play three favourite Magic Planet games that include Deal or No Deal, based on the popular TV show of the same name, High Striker and racing game, Sega Rally 3.

Arcade gaming fans and simulator enthusiasts who missed out on the selection rounds had a chance to enter the competition through wild card entries each day.
The Deal or No Deal game involves rejecting numbered boxes containing differing values of money. The amount is revealed only after the box has been selected.
Prizes
High Striker contestants strike a peg with a mallet to send a puck up a tall tower. The game measures the contestant's strength and if the peg is struck hard enough, the puck rings a bell at the top.
The last contest, Sega Rally 3, is a simulated racing game that uses advanced graphics to recreate an impressive circuit. The gamer that demonstrates the best driving skills can trade his or her video games for the real deal as a Chevrolet Lumina S is among the prizes.
Three home theatre sets, Dh50,000 worth of Mall of the Emirates shopping vouchers and Dh50,000 in travel vouchers are up for grabs.
The semifinals of Magic Planet World Gaming Championships took place at the Mall of the Emirates' galleria from 2pm to 4pm, 6pm to 7pm and 7.30pm to 8.15pm. The grand finale will be held on Wednesday at 6 pm.
