The troubled pop star gave the tabloids a field day in 2007 with a ceaseless supply of antics that have led celebrity watchers the world over to question her sanity.
From shaving her head to lashing out at paparazzi with an umbrella, the list of incidents is endless in the Oops!... I Did It Again singer's spiral of decline.
Divorce from husband Kevin Federline on July 30 after nearly three years of marriage, seems to have prompted Britney's catalogue of errors.
The year got off to a shaky start when she visited rehab in Antigua for less than a day before entering a hair salon and shaving her own head in February.
As photos of the shocking act circulated worldwide, the singer booked herself into a treatment facility in Malibu for 10 days, evading a court hearing to discuss custody of her sons.
Three days before her divorce was finalised, OK! magazine published their account of a damning interview with the Toxic songstress in which she ate fried chicken before wiping her greasy hands on a designer dress supplied for the photo shoot.
Described as “completely out of it'' and “half dead'', she reportedly used a Chanel dress to wipe up her dog's faeces and left abruptly while still wearing $12,861 (Dh47,200) worth of jewellery, a $974 (Dh3,575) Vera Wang dress, $380 (Dh1,400) Lanvin heels and a $281 (Dh1,030) Pucci scarf that didn't belong to her.
The (You Drive Me) Crazy singer has also been driving photographers to distraction – and running over their toes in the process on more than one occasion.
It's not just the paparazzi having to deal with the star's erratic driving. She also rolled her wheels over an off-duty sheriff's deputy's foot while leaving a court hearing.
And after running a red light with her children in the car, questions surrounding her parenting skills have been thrown into further debate.
That's not to mention the hit and run incident in which she collided with a parked car in August.
Her escalating personal chaos resulted in dire consequences when, on October 1, she lost joint custody of children Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, to Federline. After such a nightmare year, surely the Overprotected star needs to grow up in 2008?
