I’ve entered into a new era...

Never in my life have I ever seen myself as fit in any way. I’ve always avoided classes for fear of people laughing at me and, truth be told, I did get a snigger from a lady (not a challenger) this morning about the fact that my muscles took four days to recover from my first running class. I don’t blame her, it is quite comical. Rob from Urban Energy did make me feel great by explaining that I had successfully completed the whole 4.5 kilometer class. Thanks Rob!!!
I know that bribery is not a good thing but I had to use it today. It’s the school holidays so my kids are with me all the time. I already have the challenge of working without them knowing, so I asked Urban Energy if it was acceptable for me to bring them to a class. After spending an hour prepping them to behave, they were amazing and played beautifully at the side of the pool whilst I took part in an Aqua Aerobics class. Sorry if anyone found them districting. This class was fabulous, I have to keep this one up because after a few months of pumping those float shaped weights underwater I know I’m going to get the toned arms I’ve always wanted to replace my bingo wings.
As the saying goes ‘Be careful what you wish for’ – I was struggling to get to the classes so I had asked Fiona from Urban Energy if she could put together some exercises that I can do from home. She came back really quickly with lots of different options which are now laminated and there for the days that I can’t make a class. Thank you Fiona!
What has changed
Having initially resisted the idea of attending any classes, I have managed to switch my mind set. This is thanks to the support of the class trainer Rob, motivation from my life coach Carolyn and encouragement to make the best of this amazing opportunity from Louisa at Aquarius. It also helps to meet and talk to the other people in the group and it turns out I am physically fit, I just need to strengthen my muscles!
I can finish the classes – as painful as they are – and I’m determined to stick to them. I can only improve; it’s all worth it because I am loving the feeling it is giving me and most of all I am feeling so proud of myself for doing something I’ve never done before and was quite frankly really scared of doing.
No More Excuses!
I am done with making excuses. The biggest excuse I used to make was ‘I don’t have time’. Let’s face it, we all use that one! It’s not a lie – I used to fill my day to the brim with work, kids, driving, cooking, designing, deliveries, e-mails etc. I dedicated very little time to myself.
Belinda’s Philosophical lesson: my new way to look at life.
Just like your diet, your life should consist of a little bit of everything.
How unhealthy and boring would your diet be if you only ate one thing?
How would this make you feel?
The same should be said for life. It should be filled with variety.
I have figured out, thanks to this Life Challenge, that life should be as vibrant as the food on your plate.
We should divide our life up into healthy portions of family time, pleasure, friends, work, relaxation, hobbies etc.
Then and only then can we achieve the perfect balance.
My goal is to enjoy my children more and more. To grow old fit. To never criticise myself and to look and feel good in everything I wear. Thanks again Aquarius – this challenge has come at the perfect time in my life. I’m on the right track now – for life.
