Abu Dhabi: Five people were killed and five others were seriously injured in 23 road accidents during the Eid holiday in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, according to a press release issued by Abu Dhabi Police on Wednesday.

Brigadier Mohammad Dhahi Al Hamairi,  Director of Abu Dhabi Traffic Department at the Traffic and Patrols Directorate  in the Central Operations of Abu Dhabi Police, said that the fatal accidents were caused by collision between cars, a car hitting a pedestrian and  another car turning upside down.  

The drivers failed to stick  to their lanes, jumped red light, and did n not leave enough space, causing such serious accidents, the official said.
