Abu Dhabi: A total of five boat owners have been fined for abandoning their boats in public spaces on the outskirts of the capital, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (November 1).

The abandoned boats were found during a recent inspection in areas such as Bahia, Sadr and Shalila.

In addition to the fines, five other boat owners were also given warnings, and asked to clean or move their boats within a three-day grace period. If the owners fail to comply, the boats will be towed to the impound yard in Al Wathba, in accordance with municipal Law No 2 of 2012. A fine of Dh3,000 will be imposed, in addition to the daily impound yard fees, the municipal statement said.
