Ras Al Khaimah: Traffic officers here caught 25 students who were driving without a licence, it was learnt by Gulf News.
The offenders were caught after officers carried out random inspections when they noticed that a number of youngsters were driving vehicles on the roads.
The department launched inspection campaigns on various schools in the emirate at the beginning of the new academic year to ensure the students' safety.
The 25 offenders were from just one school, said a senior police officer.
Colonel Ali Elkum, Director of Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the students who were caught drove their parents' vehicles.

The school was not named by the officer, who added the inspections were conducted between 7.30am till 8.30am on Sunday.
Colonel Elkum said the inspection was carried out following orders from Major General Ali Bin Alwan, Commander-in-Chief of Ras Al Khaimah Police.
The officer pointed out that traffic officers noticed some students drove vehicles to reach their school, then the issue was raised to the police chief who instructed traffic officers to monitor the students closely.
Col. Elkum mentioned that the files of the students caught driving without licence have been transferred to the public prosecution for legal action.
Col. Elkum called on families and guardians to watch their children carefully and urged them to abide by the traffic laws.
He also stressed on the need to educate young adults about the dangers of driving without a licence and violating the traffic laws.
He called upon the parents to never allow their children who have not obtained driving license to take their cars and drive it.
