Ajman: A bus carrying 18 workers flipped over after it was hit by a vehicle on Shaikh Zayed Road in Ajman.

All the workers on the bus were hurt in the accident, which took place on Wednesday evening, said Major Saif Al Falasi,  Director of Ajman Police Traffic Department.

The drivers of the bus and the vehicle were seriously injured and the 18 workers on the bus sustained minor to moderate injuries.

Police said 13 of the injured were taken to Shaikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, six workers were taken to Al Qassimi Hospital and Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah. Others were taken to Shaikh Khalifa Hospital in Umm Al Quwain.

Police said the motorist was speeding and not paying enough attention, which resulted in the vehicle hitting the pavement and ramming into the bus on the other side of the road.

Maj Al Falasi said the Civil Defence team had to cut part of the front of the bus to take the driver out.

“Motorists must always stay focused on the road and take precautions by wearing their seat belts and abiding by speed limits,” said Maj Al Falasi. “They should never be distracted when they are on the road, for their safety and the safety of others.”
