11 men arrested, 188 gas cylinders seized from RAK house

Illegal workers were storing and selling containers

Ras Al Khaimah: Eleven illegal workers were arrested and 188 gas cylinders seized following a joint raid byu the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs department in Ras Al Khaimah and the Civil Defence department.

Brigadier Sultan Yousuf Al Nuaimi, director-general of the residency department, said

the department was tipped off about illegal activities by a number of Asian workers at a house in the Al Dheit area. They were involved in the distribution and sale of a Rak-based company’s gas cylinders. The cylinders were stored in their house, endangering their lives and the lives of others. Five men and 151 gas cylinders were found in the house on Monday.

The suspects were taken into police custody and the cylinders were seized.

Later, the suspects told the inspection team about their partners and about a private vehicle used to distribute the cylinders.

Authorities found the vehicle where 37 gas cylinders had been stored and the men’s accomplices were also arrested.
